I think I can now officially say, that I am fully obsessed with Vincent Price. My ipod is filled with his laugh, his radio shows, my alarm signal is another of his radio shows....my shelf is overflowing with his horror movies, he's my phone background and I never shut up about how much I adore him. Ahhhhh. I've adored Vincent Price for as long as I can remember and have always been a huge fan of his horror movies. When I was 13, for my birthday, I recieved my first (aside from Tim Burton's 'Vincent' as an extra on the 'Nightmare before Christmas' DVD) Vincent Price DVD from my friend Steph. I remember we couldn't buy the 12, because we were scared the HMV people would I.D us even though 'We were clearly 13 now..' I watched it over and over again. It was on of his drama/triller/mystery type movies and I adored it.

Oh and I'm getting in the mood for Halloween more and more by the day. Halloween is a time of year for one of my favourite ever songs; 'The Monster Mash.' Which is also the Vincent Price version might I add.
What can I say, the man is incredible. His voice has the silky smooth quality that sends shivers down your spine when you listen to 'The Price of Fear.' He also has a cool moustache. If I was a man, I would have a moustache like that. In fact, I might go all out and grow one anyway. Start a trend.
Vincent's first 'true' horror was 1955, which was incidently 'The House of Wax.' In total, he was in 100 movies, mostly thrillers and dramas...yet he is most remebered for the 20 or so horrors that he was in. He has become a Horror Icon and arguably the 'King of Horror.'
Vincent Price's Radio Shows go on as soon as I enter the door. I put my ipod onto it's docking station and shuffle his radio shows. There are still so many I have to download. My current favourites are some from 'The Price of Fear' collection (found on www.radio-lovers.com); 'Cat's Cradle', 'Goody Two Shoes' and "Come as you are." Each show is around half an hour long and they never, ever get old ;)
In some respects, I often prefer radio shows to watching movies. You get to use your imagination more, and sometimes, your imagination can be scarier than something which makes you jump on screen.
I remember when I first saw Tim Burton's short movie, 'Vincent.' It was one of those eye opening experiences from my childhood. I'd always been a horror fan... I mean a 'proper' horror fan. None of this pointless gore. The kind of horror that is actually sinister and scary, not just 'Oh look, there's a bit of intestine on the wall and a doll which is actually some guy with an illness' kind of horror. I still to this day know all of the words. If you haven't seen it yet, watch it now;
I am in the process of collecting all of his movies on DVD and will be posting more blogs about the fantastic Mr Price whenever I have a spare moment. ;)
