Some newbies.
I've not 'blogged' in some time now. I've found myself horrendously busy with University and my job. Plus, I'd moved over to Tumblr for a while, although it's full of 'reblogging' and there's nothing much original on there. Just pictures and over angsty teens exploiting their innermost feelings...
This is a gorgeous Camel dress I found in Zara. (£35.99.) I absoloutley adore the flared skirt and pretty bow. I've promised myself that i'll keep it for Christmas day...but to be honest, I don't think that's going to happen.

New hair.
Being a restless person, I'm always trying to change something about me. I constantly find myself in the bathroom with a bottle of hair dye. I've gone from very dark brown (my natural colour), to black, to blue black, to black with bits of blue...to normal again, to chesnut red, to bright red, to purple, then to black blue again. Then over the past few months, I let those hair colours grow out, then realised I was somewhat ginger still underneath all of it, due to the red dye...so I dyed it black again, then purple and last week, I accidently dyed it bright pink with some bleaching stuff...needless to say, I then dyed it back to black, although my roots are STILL pink.
So I asked myself, "What's next?'' and I thought about getting my Bettie Bangs back, but then realised i've cut my hair too short now for them...so I came across a picture of Immodesty Blaize and decided that I am going to do THIS:

More Pictures.
Hat £10, Lark Lane Antique shop (1940's), ... Vintage German Dress, £15, Landbaby @ the Bluecoat.
Hat... £15, Vintage shop in Chester. It was a present from Andrew. :) The hat is probably around late 1930's, but the flower spray and net were added later. The bad sewing along the ridge gave that one away;) It's better than my sewing anyway!
Shoes £12, Liverpool Vintage Fair. Belt, £5, Dorothy Perkins.
Camel Skirt, £39.99 Zara, Vintage blouse, £10, Liverpool Vintage fair.

Meow.
Yesterday evening, my Mum and Dad called me downstairs to look out of the window. Behind our wall, crying, was a kitten. I ran out with some milk straight away and it let me stroke it. By this point, I was sobbing my eyes out as it was shivering and soaked right through. So I brought him in. He's still in my house now. We think he's been dumped and mistreated because of the way he runs away sometimes and how certain things will really frighten him. :(
But he's safe with me. I don't know what we're calling him yet, but I love him so, so much. We both fell asleep on the sofa this morning...he's my little friend! It's a literal dream come true, as i've never been allowed to have a cat, we've always had budgies you see. But he seems to get on okay with Belle and Misty! Here's some pictures (:

This is Halloweeeeen; a short halloweeny post.
At this time of year, I am always, always excited for Halloween. Ever since I was a child, it has been my favourite time of year.
That picture ^ up there...reminds me of Leanne...coincidently, I am going to her party this Halloween! Rum, cake, vodka jelly's and lots of traditional Halloween fun;)
For my costume this year, I am still debating on whether or not to go as the traditional witch...or Morticia Addams.
And of course....Tim Burton watching is much needed. As is plenty of my old horror movie collection.
I bought my costume, a long black dress with a hat and belt, from Kitty who owns Curious Orange in Liverpool's 'Grand Central Arcade' (formerly Quiggins.) for 15.00 and the tache for 1.00. Bargain. I always see and buy the most beautiful dresses in her shop. I am going to upload some pictures of my new dress that I bought from her. It's a beautiful, floral, 1950's dress with a high collar and shell button design.
Have a look at Kitty's shop here; http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=122665194458515&id=1638502183&ref=notif¬if_t=like#!/CuriousOrangeShop
Also, for anyone who is interested, or indeed in Liverpool on the 4th of November...you need to get down to her Psycho Motel night in Heebie Jeebies. It's set to be amaaaaazing. And is only 5.00 on the door! OH, and it's fancy dress.

Tiger, tiger.
I know I've been posting sooooo many videos of late, but I just adore the Tiger Rag too much to not share it with my followers!
A little vintage lingerie video.
In my opinion, it is absolutley KEY when attempting a vintage look, to own the right underwear.

A History of Horror; Mark Gatiss.
This is a little something for all of you fellow Horror Fans...well, the horror fans who's passion lies in the good old stuff, and not the chopping-up-guts-to-sicken-and-not-frighten-you kind!
I watched this on BBC4, go and watch it quick before it goes off the internet in 19 days!!

Camel, camel, cameeeeel.
This season, I've been embracing camel. I bought this skirt from Zara the other week and it is possibly one of my favourite items of clothing in my wardrobe.
My Ma-Ma (Grandma) also gave me a camel coat, which is gorgeous and so, so warm.

HAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
"Miss Crawford has always been envious of Bette's voluptuous figure, as a matter of fact Joan used to borrow Bette's bras to use for shoulder pads.''
- what a shout!! (even though I love Crawford ahaha)! I love Vincent Price too much.

La de la de laaa
I'm finally starting singing again, now I have Friday's pretty much free. I've moved away from Opera completley now. Especially as I almost had an attack on stage last year. Instead, I've moved towards jazz more now. I've been looking through my music collection to find something I can sing this Fryupday. Here's a couple of songs I'm thinking of doing. ;)
Julie London; Cry me a River.
Patti Page; Can't get used to losing you. I love Patti Page, and the Andy Williams version of this song is one of my all time faves.
There's loads more, I just don't have a cluuuuuuue what to do. Suggestions would be welcomed ;)
My problem is my incredible lack of confidence and stage fright.... It's just something I've got to get over I think!

Planning on getting more tattoos.
I want some sailor-esque tattoos. Preferably a fat Pirate Ship on my right leg and some swallows on my hands. My boyfriend was once more intolerable & said that tattoos are awful on women and that I should rid myself of mine...I really do need to find the correct moment to dump the blundering fool.
I love tattoos.

For a girl my age, I'm considerate and nice, but I want to be just like Vincent Price!
“It's as much fun to scare as to be scared.”
I think I can now officially say, that I am fully obsessed with Vincent Price. My ipod is filled with his laugh, his radio shows, my alarm signal is another of his radio shows....my shelf is overflowing with his horror movies, he's my phone background and I never shut up about how much I adore him. Ahhhhh. I've adored Vincent Price for as long as I can remember and have always been a huge fan of his horror movies. When I was 13, for my birthday, I recieved my first (aside from Tim Burton's 'Vincent' as an extra on the 'Nightmare before Christmas' DVD) Vincent Price DVD from my friend Steph. I remember we couldn't buy the 12, because we were scared the HMV people would I.D us even though 'We were clearly 13 now..' I watched it over and over again. It was on of his drama/triller/mystery type movies and I adored it.

Oh and I'm getting in the mood for Halloween more and more by the day. Halloween is a time of year for one of my favourite ever songs; 'The Monster Mash.' Which is also the Vincent Price version might I add.
What can I say, the man is incredible. His voice has the silky smooth quality that sends shivers down your spine when you listen to 'The Price of Fear.' He also has a cool moustache. If I was a man, I would have a moustache like that. In fact, I might go all out and grow one anyway. Start a trend.
Vincent's first 'true' horror was 1955, which was incidently 'The House of Wax.' In total, he was in 100 movies, mostly thrillers and dramas...yet he is most remebered for the 20 or so horrors that he was in. He has become a Horror Icon and arguably the 'King of Horror.'
Vincent Price's Radio Shows go on as soon as I enter the door. I put my ipod onto it's docking station and shuffle his radio shows. There are still so many I have to download. My current favourites are some from 'The Price of Fear' collection (found on www.radio-lovers.com); 'Cat's Cradle', 'Goody Two Shoes' and "Come as you are." Each show is around half an hour long and they never, ever get old ;)
In some respects, I often prefer radio shows to watching movies. You get to use your imagination more, and sometimes, your imagination can be scarier than something which makes you jump on screen.
I remember when I first saw Tim Burton's short movie, 'Vincent.' It was one of those eye opening experiences from my childhood. I'd always been a horror fan... I mean a 'proper' horror fan. None of this pointless gore. The kind of horror that is actually sinister and scary, not just 'Oh look, there's a bit of intestine on the wall and a doll which is actually some guy with an illness' kind of horror. I still to this day know all of the words. If you haven't seen it yet, watch it now;
I am in the process of collecting all of his movies on DVD and will be posting more blogs about the fantastic Mr Price whenever I have a spare moment. ;)
"I don't want to read about some of these actresses who are around today. They sound like my niece in Scarsdale. I love my niece in Scarsdale, but I won't buy tickets to see her act.”
Go and enlighten yourselves;

Maureen Lee; Lights out Liverpool.
For Christmas this year, I opened a book shaped from my Grandma (Ma-Ma - her affectionate name) present to find a Maureen Lee book; Lights out Liverpool. I've never before really read many home based war books (I'm a Liverpool girl myself) other than Welsh Scouse when I was around 6 or 7. I had deliberately saved it until I'd finished the mass pile of books I received because I knew it was one of a series. I'm glad I did, because now, my other books have been cruelly cast aside to make room for Maureen's wonderful books.
Those who know me, know about my deep fascination with WWII, the people, the battles, the love stories and the fashion. Maureen touches on each of these in a delicate and perceptive way. It's a fusion of my interests and even mentions EGYPTOLOGY! (My chosen university course!!!) Her book, "Lights out Liverpool" left me unable to sleep properly for the past few nights wondering what became of Nick and Eileen Costello...if Francis would return to his tormenting, evil ways, if Ruth would return home to her father with a husband and children in tow....all of these things. At the weekend I bought the next in the Pearl Street series; 'Put out the Fires' and am already half way through it.
She conveys the relationships of the people of Pearl Street with particular beauty and sensitivity. I adore the romance between Cal and Sheila, and will admit I was heartbroken when I thought...well, I won't say, because it will spoil it for anyone who wants to read it. Let's just say on a number of occasions I have shed a tear or two! Maureen has a particular skill of creating undying love with as few a words possible. She cuts out the often unnecessary poncey, pansy ways of describing love and gets to the point whilst describing the feelings of love in such a perfect way. I kept putting myself in Eileen's position, thinking, "What would I do if that were me and my other half instead of Eileen and Nick.'' Also, I love the descriptions of the lives of Freda and Dicky, the two children who were cruelly treated by their mother, who despite all odds, still loved them. I wished they could have stayed with their Evacuation family, but alas...certain events changed that. I'm eager to find out more about what happens to those two in "Put out the Fires."
Not only have I cried at some of the heartbreaking moments of this book, but I have laughed until my sides were sore. One line in particular; "I'VE WET MESELF!" You will understand if you read! I don't want to give too much away! Reading a book in my own accent has been a delight. It's so great being able to recognise our funny sayings and ways. I love the way it is tainted by 'scouse humour.' For anyone who is not aware, us scousers are the funniest of all people. And THAT is not debatable! (1941 - Bootle)
The book I am writing currently is about the war, and like Maureen, I intend to undertake serious research to ensure the facts are all right. Maureen, I think it is safe to say, you have a new fan and I shall continue reading your brilliant and beautifully written books with enthusiasm!

Cheesecake Delight. (cooked)
This recipe is for a COOKED cheesecake. I will be putting my sisters take on it up shortly. Her's is uncooked and might I add...a bit amazing. (This is especially in mind for Carla Gonzales, who likes Cheesecake, but cannot cook it. Hola Carla!)
A tip from me; *add an extra 50g of all things fatty for added taste and bottom capacity. Hey, we all need a break from obsessive dieting now and again don't we?!...
What you need;
- 10 digestive biscuits
- 50g butter , melted
- 600g cream cheese (Philledelphia)
- 2 tbsp plain flour
- 175g caster sugar
- vanilla extract
- 2 eggs , plus 1 yolk. (beaten)
- 142ml pot soured cream
- 300g raspberries, strawberries, whateverberries. Maybe not even berries...maybe pineapple...whatever takes your fancy. In fact, forget the Grams. Don't skimp on the fruit.
- icing sugarrrrrrrrrr
- Heat the oven to 180C/fan 160C/gas 4. Crush the biscuits in a food processor (or put in a plastic bag and bash with a rolling pin). Mix with the butter. Press into a 20cm springform tin and bake for 5 minutes, then cool.
- Beat the cream cheese with the flour, sugar, a few drops of vanilla, eggs, the yolk and soured cream until light and fluffy. Stir in half the raspberries and pour into the tin. Bake for 40 minutes and then check, it should be set but slightly wobbly in the centre. Leave in the tin to cool.
- Keep a few raspberries/fruity goodness for the top and put the rest in a pan with 1 tbsp icing sugar. Heat until juicy and then squash with a fork. Push through a sieve. Serve the cheescake with the raspberry/fruity goodness sauce and raspberries/fruity goodness.
The whole thing should take about 40 mins in the oven...with about 20 mins prep.
This recipe was sourced from the BBCGOODFOOD webpage with a few extra's by me. Like I say, the sister's special recipe will be up soon too!
